Pasadena Vice-Mayor Tyron Hampton Backs Councilmember Victor Gordo’s Campaign for Pasadena Mayor
PASADENA, CA -- Continuing his unrelenting momentum just over a month before the election, today Pasadena City Councilmember Victor Gordo secured an influential endorsement from Pasadena Vice-Mayor Tyron Hampton in his campaign for Pasadena Mayor.
In a statement released with his announced endorsement, Vice-Mayor Hampton remarked:
“Like me, Victor Gordo is a lifelong resident of Pasadena. He knows every part of the city, and shares my commitment to looking out for the best interests of all of our residents.
Victor’s commitment to our residents was evident in the early days of the current health and economic crisis attributable to Covid-19. Victor and I were the most forceful voices advocating for the health and safety of our vulnerable seniors and the food-vulnerable children in our community. Victor’s efforts to bring transparency and accountability to all members of city government, including the City Council itself, will be essential to restoring our civic health.
Along with myself and my family, I invite you to join us in voting for Victor Gordo for Mayor.”
Earlier this month, Gordo’s campaign for Mayor rolled out its first television ad in the general election. Titled “Garage,” the spot centers on Victor’s background, highlighting his humble beginnings of growing up while living in a local Pasadena garage and delivering the Pasadena Star-News -- experiences that inspired his life's work of fighting for working families as an attorney as well as on the Pasadena City Council.
Since initially launching his grassroots-driven and people-powered campaign for Mayor, Gordo has amassed widespread support from hundreds of neighborhood leaders from every part of Pasadena, including:
-
Former Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard
-
Former Pasadena Mayor Bill Thompson
-
Former Pasadena Mayor Bill Paparian
-
Pasadena Vice-Mayor Tyron Hampton
-
Pasadena Councilmember Steve Madison
-
Pasadena Councilmember-Elect Felicia Williams
-
Former Pasadena Police Chief Bernard Melekian
-
Former Pasadena Unified School District Superintendent Vera Vignes
In the March Primary, Gordo finished in first place with more than 46% of the vote, defeating the incumbent and two challengers.
