Hundreds of Pasadena Neighborhood Leaders, Grassroots Activists, Community Members Throughout the City Sign On to Mayoral Candidate Victor Gordo’s 2020 Campaign Filing
PASADENA, CA -- Yesterday, lifelong Pasadena resident and Pasadena City Councilmember Victor M. Gordo filed to be a candidate for the upcoming March 2020 Pasadena Mayoral race. Despite needing only 50 signatures to qualify for the 2020 election, hundreds of Pasadena neighborhood leaders, grassroots activists, community members from throughout the city (West, Northwest, Southwest, Central and South) united together to sign on in support of Victor Gordo’s candidacy for Mayor.
Gordo released the following statement reflecting on the impressive announcement:
“I’m incredibly grateful and humbled that neighborhood leaders took it upon themselves to circulate our petition in every part of the city. I am going to work hard to earn and keep the trust of every Pasadenean by putting the interests of Pasadena residents first. I am incredibly honored by this show of support and look forward to continuing to work to expand our coalition and build a movement across every corner of Pasadena, so that we can bring Pasadena together to address complex issues affecting every part of our city, and ensure that City Hall is responsive to all people in our city."
Last month, Gordo’s campaign announced that it had surpassed $100,000 raised only a few weeks since formally launching his campaign.
The Councilman also released his first digital video ad in the campaign. Titled "Standing Up," Gordo's new digital video ad features the Councilman, filmed on his front porch, at his official campaign kickoff rally with hundreds of supporters in which he says, "the people of Pasadena should have a government that they can trust, a government that's transparent, a government that they can be proud of."

In the last few weeks, in addition to securing support from 100 community leaders across the city, Gordo earned the endorsement of the Pasadena Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 809 and also announced the support of former Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard, who will be serving as his campaign’s Co-Chair and Treasurer. Bogaard, who served as Pasadena’s Mayor from 1999–2015, was the first directly elected mayor of Pasadena since the 1940s and is the longest-serving mayor in the city’s history.
